Multi-collectors ICPMS Nu Plasma 3

Plasma 3 is a third generation Multi Collector ICP Mass Spectrometer (MC-ICP-MS), designed to provide the best possible precision and accuracy for simultaneous isotopic ion detection. The instrument retains the unique, patented, variable dispersion Zoom lens enabling the simultaneous measurement of the isotopes of elements from lithium to the actinide series on its static collector array of sixteen Faraday detectors and up to six ion-counting detectors. Ground potential analyser operation provides ease of use and maintenance with excellent reliability. While continuing to provide the highest precision, accuracy and flexibility that previous generations are renowned for, Plasma 3 adds new refinements and innovations to maintain its position as the instrument of choice for Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Nuclear Research, Archaeology, Forensics, Biochemistry and Biomedical Science.

Key analytical features for solving a wide range of analytical problems
The IMS 7f-Auto offers unparalleled depth profiling capabilities with high depth resolution and high dynamic range. The high transmission mass spectrometer is combined with two reactive, high-density ion sources, O2+ and Cs+, thus providing high sputter rate and excellent detection limits. A unique optical design allows both direct ion microscopy and scanning microprobe imaging.

Improved automation & operation efficiency
The IMS 7f-Auto is equipped with a redesigned, in-line primary column for easier and faster primary beam tuning and optimized primary beam current stability. New automated routines minimize operator related biases and improve ease-of-use. A motorized storage chamber with automated load / unload of sample holders ensures high throughput through analysis chaining and remote operation.

High reproducibility at high throughput
Thanks to its new motorized storage chamber & sample transfer, the IMS 7f-Auto can analyze multiple samples in chained or remote mode. Measurements can be fully unattended and automated, with unequalled throughput and reproducibility. Ultimate reproducibility can be achieved (RSD < 0.5 %), together with excellent detection limits, high throughput and productivity (tool can be used 24h a day with minimum operator intervention).

Variable Dispersion Zoom Optics
Plasma 3 utilises our unique field proven Zoom Optics system that removes the necessity for employing adjustable collectors. This provides a highly reliable collector array and allows instantaneous switching between collector configurations, and the use of full size discrete dynode SEMs or Daly detectors. The Zoom Optics system maintains double focussing conditions throughout the operational mass range.

All new ICP source
The ICP source has been designed and engineered to be robust while ensuring maximum stability and reliability during operation. This unique design of ICP source gives the user unrestricted access to the interface area to facilitate ease of use and maintenance

Multiple Daly Detectors
Multiple Daly detectors can be substituted for SEM detectors on Plasma 3; up to three on the standard instrument. A full Daly collector system is also available on the ‘D’ variant of the instrument for the ultimate in ion counting performance. This can include up to six Daly Detectors in addition to the sixteen Faraday cups.

Enhanced Abundance Transfer Optics (EATO)
For the more demanding actinide applications an additional lens element EATO (patent pending) has been designed, easily installed by users without the need to vent the analyser. This device is inserted in to the transfer chamber and provides significant improvement to the abundance sensitivity without compromising transmission or mass bias stability.
